Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(June 6th, 2009)


MEETING OPENED:

Meeting called to order at 5:15 pm by our President, Mike Santella, at the Great American Casino in Tukwila, WA.

GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
There were no new guests or new members.

SECRETARIES REPORT:

Wally Santella gave the June 09 Secretaries Report. February’s meeting minutes were summarized; the details posted on the Club’s web site and reported to this meeting’s membership.

TREASURES REPORT:

Judy Booth presented the Treasures Report, announcing a Beginning Balance of $3,294.37 and an Ending Balance of $3,457.48.

CLUB CORRESPONDENCE:

Mike Santella shared two pieces of Club Correspondence:
(1) The POCI Club’s Monthly Newsletter
(2) AMES Performance Tri-Power Nationals (Aug 7/8/9 in Norwalk, OH)

OLD BUSINESS:

- THIS YEAR’S TIGER RUN – Mitch Bleitz provided a summary of our Club member winners at this year’s Tiger Run:
Gary Tischer – 1st Place 64 Modified
Mitch Bleitz – 3rd Place 67 Modified
Gloria Reems – 1st Place 66 Stock Convertible
Dave Gunnersen – 1st Place 66/67 Convertible
Steve Martin – 1st Place 69 Convertible
Mark DeCosta – 2nd Place Judge
Jim Bozony – 1st Place 70/71 Stock
Brendon Warren – 2nd Place 66 Modified
Bob Bukoski 1st Place 68/72 Lemans

Mitch also talked to the membership about the importance of going to Tiger Run next year because they will be having some special show activities.

- NEXT YEARS GTOAA NATIONALS – Mike Santella talked to the membership about the fact that next year, the GTOAA Nationals will be held in Portland, OR. It will be in our own back yard and therefore, convenient for our membership to attend.

- NEW CLUB APPAREL – Mike Santella voiced his concern how after we spent so much time and effort, trying to decide which club apparel to have produced for sale and to whom it could be sold, he only got 13 orders for specific apparel. Mike asked the membership about how much the Club should spend for an order of apparel and suggested $1000. The membership agreed and approved that amount to be spent.

- SOVERN HISTORIC RACES AT PACIFIC RACEWAY – Tom Willett talked to the membership about this year’s Historic Races on July 4th. Tom encouraged members to get involved in this event and got commitment from the following people to participate in this year’s event:
Tom Willett, Kevin Sullivan (Gary Tischer gave Kevin his ticket), Dave Roberson, Denny deal, Mike Buzard, Don McLaughlin, Pat Murphy, Stephen Fafnis, Patrick Kinsella, Pete Cosette and Dave Gunnersen.

- THIS YEAR’S NW MUSCLE CAR MEET COVERAGE – Mike Santella updated the membership and informed everyone that he has secured sponsorship from all sponsors with the valuable help of Tom Palermo, Denny Deal and Ted Knapp. Mike also talked about the idea that one of our members suggested, that the winners sign a thank-you card to each of the sponsors.

- RODS & REELS CAR SHOW – Gary Tischer lauded his brother’s Rods & Reels Car show, which was held this year the weekend after Tiger Run, in the town of Skamokawa, in Southern Washington.

-GARY MCKAYS CAR COLLECTION TOUR – Mike Santella updated the membership on a plan for the Club to tour Gary McKay’s fine care collection in late October/early November of this year.

NEW BUSINESS:

- THIS YEAR’S GREENWOOD CAR SHOW – Brian Canfield, or guest from Greenwood, addressed the membership about the changes that have been implemented at the Greenwood Car Show. Brian explained that the fee has been reduced from $250 back to $25. Brian ran into John Pearson and Steve Martin and encouraged our membership to participate again on Saturday, June 27th. Tom Willett took a pole and got commitments from 10 club members who will participate and Tom encouraged anyone else who decides to also attend to contact him before the 27th.

- 2009 POCI HOODS CANAL RUN - Mike Santella talked to the membership about this year’s POCI Hoods Canal Run on September 26th, and got 5 interested members.

- 2009 PPP (PONTIAC PICNIC IN THE PARK) – Pat Murphy and Mark Bilyeu talked to the membership about combining Pat’s idea of a cruse to Leavenworth with Mark Bilyeu’s idea for a Pontiac Picnic in the Park. Pat and Mark will work out the details and post information on the Club website and discuss it at next months Club meeting.

- NEXT MONTHS MEETING – Mike Santella talked to the membership about moving next months Club meeting from July 4th to July 11th. The membership agreed and the decision was made to move the meeting date.

GUEST SPEAKER OF THE MONTH:
There was no Guest Speaker this month.

SHOP TALK:
(1) Denny Deal has work done to his rear end by Driveline Northwest. Denny also had his tri-power worked on.
(2) Wally Santella talked about progress on the 3000 lb rotisserie that he and Mark are building. Wally informed the membership that he and Mark plan to finish their respective restorations in time for the 2010 Nationals.
(3) Tom Palermo discussed his effort to re-badge his GTO to a Monaro.

50/50 Raffle: A 50/50 raffle was held and Gary Tischer won $45 and $45 went to the Club.

MEETING ADJORNED:
The Club’s Business Meeting was adjourned at 6:30 PM, by Mike Santella. Next meeting will be held at the Great American Casino in Tukwila, on July 11th, at 5:00pm.

Hey, I got a third place award at Tiger Run. 04-06 stock. You missed that in the report.

Also Kevin Sullivan won 2nd Place in Competition Modified.

Regarding shop talk, I believe that Denny's work was done at NW Differential in Kirkland and not at Drivelines NW. Remember that NW Diff is a plaque sponsor of the show! I just called them to quote me on some LSD work I'm considering, and I made sure that I told them that I was returning the favor of being a sponsor of our club's upcoming show...he appreciated it!
