Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(July 11th, 2009)


MEETING OPENED:

Meeting called to order at 5:15 pm by our President, Mike Santella, at the Great American Casino in Tukwila, WA.

GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
Rick E. Johnson registered as a new member in the Club and Dave Billo was recognized as a guest of Jim & John Bozony.

SECRETARIES REPORT:

Wally Santella gave the July 09 Secretaries Report. June’s meeting minutes were summarized; the details posted on the Club’s web site and reported to this meeting’s membership.

TREASURES REPORT:

In Judy Booth’s absence, Wally Santella presented the Treasures Report, announcing a Beginning Balance of $3,457.48 and an Ending Balance of $4,334.98.

CLUB CORRESPONDENCE:

Mike Santella shared one piece of Club Correspondence about a car show that raises funds for bone marrow cancer transplants.

OLD BUSINESS:

- VINTAGE VEHICLE RACES – Mike Buzard gave a report to the membership on this year’s Vintage Vehicle Races Mike was there all 3 days. He reported that the club was represented b 6 new GTOs and 6 old GTOs. Mike commented that they had a great location and our club cars were the first in pace lap, with Mike leading. Dave Gunnerson won an award for the “Best Muscle Car”.

- GREENWOOD CAR SHOW – Pat Kinsella reported to the membership on this year’s Greewood Car Show. Pat says they had great weather, and there were 12 of our club cars there to enjoy it. Pat said they had a lot of different vehicles, including a Volkswagon with an electric motor. Pat says our cars were located in the middle of block 72 and the show went from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Mike Santella also mention that Brian Canfield talked to him about involving our club at next year’s show to help police certain side streets to prevent people for entering from a non-controlled location. The expectation is that our Club would benefit in some manner, such as free entrance into the show.

- THIS YEAR’S NW MUSCLE CAR MEET COVERAGE – Mike Santella asked the membership to authorize the inclusion of a hydroplane to be displayed at this year’s Muscle Car Meet. Mike explained that it would cost $350 and made a motion to have the Club fund this and the motion was passed by the membership.


NEW BUSINESS:

- PPP (PONTIAC PICNIC in the PARK) – Mark Bilyeu, Pat Murphy and Wally Santella talked about their plans for this years’ rally run, call the Pontiac Picnic in the Park or PPP. Plans are to caravan to the city of Leavenworth on July 25th. There will be two groups, one leaving from the XXX Drive-in in Issaquah at 9:30am and one leaving from the Chevron Station in Monroe, located just as you head out of town to the east on HWY 2, sometime between 9:30 am and 10:00am. Plans are to bring your own food and picnic at the Lions Club Park, in Leavenworth.

- GORDON ? CAR COLLECTION – Mike Santella talked to Gordon about having the club members tour his car collection. Mike will get more details on our plans to do this and report back to the membership.

- BILL BAKER MEMORIAL CAR SHOW – Patrick Kinsella talked to the membership about this year’s Bill Baker Memorial Car Show, which is held on August 15th, and raises money for see-eye service dogs for the blind. Patrick asked any members who are interested to see him for details.

- DES MONIES MARINA SATURDAY NIGHT CRUZE-IN – Mike Santella talked to the membership about establishing a Saturday Night Cruze-In at the Des Moines Marina. Mike says he spoke to Harbor Master about our interest in being able to do this and the Harbor Master thought it would be a great idea. He suggested that after the Marina concluded its next week event, it would be open to doing this.

- POCI CLUB ARE SELLING SOME OF THEIR CARS – POCI President, Grant Morris has indicated to the membership that if anyone is interest, some of their members will be selling their cars.

GUEST SPEAKER OF THE MONTH:
There was no Guest Speaker this month.

SHOP TALK:
(1) Mike Buzard has acquired a 19964 Tempest LeMans. Mike says he bought it off ob Ebay and that it’s in great shape. Mike plans to bring it to the PPP on July 25th.
(2) Wally Santella and Mark Bilyeu have purchased a 1966 GTO that has a very nice body that has been stored for a number of years.

50/50 Raffle: A 50/50 raffle was held and Ann Santella won $34 and $34 went to the Club.

MEETING ADJORNED:
The Club’s Business Meeting was adjourned at 6:30 PM, by Mike Santella. Next meeting will be held at the Great American Casino in Tukwila, on August 1st , at 5:00pm.
