It's still a bit early, but some of you were wondering when the BOP event is happening this year. According to Bremerton Raceway's schedule it is Saturday Sept. 19. As last year a few of us will be going out on Friday afternoon (4 PM till dusk) for the test-n-tune, which a fun low key time to run your car as many times as you want. Then afterwards I'll be hosting a BBQ for anyone that wants to attend back at my place in Bremerton. Saturday is the show and official drags, followed by the annual Beistline's Chili & Burrito fest! Let me know if you need directions or details as we get closer.

I was hoping to make Saturday, as I've been to the last 2 years now. Unfortunately my GTO is currently in the shop...clutch/shifter issues. If I get it done in time I'll be there.

It will be good to see you and the Rock Star '66 Kev - Got the confirmation for Annie Beistline, they are excited to have everyone over Saturday night. Here's her e-mail reply:
Hi Brad,
Chuck has been cooking chili and freezing it for the last few weeks. I think he has at least 7 gallons of chili now and he is starting to work on the burritos. So, oh yeh, it’s a great big COME ON DOWN! We can’t wait to see all of you.

Figures I'll be out of state again, taking the 64 Prix down to Oregon for the body off resto and bringing back the 76 T/A so I can paint it...oh well hopefully next year my 64 Lemans will be ready for the track by then...:(

Looking forward to it, Friday AND Saturday! Keep your fingers crossed for the weather. Sometimes it says showers, sometimes it says sun:

It looks like my car might be done in the nick of time, but the weather for Saturday is looking like crud. I'll check again when I get home from work.

Thanks you both for hosting a great Fiday BBQ at your cool pad!
It was great to see everybody & now we wait for the streets to dry to kickoff Saturday's venue.
I will be there either way but hopefully the rain is done!

My car ended up one fitting short of being ready in time, and the rain stayed around quite a while, so I didn't make it. I'm curious to know whether it was a rain out.

I think this is the answer you are looking for, Pat. Trust your weatherman. It cleared out after noon and racing was under way...Big thank you to Chuck and Annie for the massive chili/burrito feed. We had to catch the Ferry early, but it was, as usual, a great time. Thanks again!!

Saturday turned out to be a great day.
The cooler weather allowed for faster cars.
Congrats go out to many who posted their fastest times!
Reed Racing - 10.66
Rude 64 - 10.25
Royal Botkin Racing - Fastest Pontiac award! (10.04 I think)
Dave Gunnerson - Car show award (67 GTO convertible)
I couldn't help but notice the airtime launches of the Usual Suspects.
Thanks so much Chuck & Annie for the fantastic feast once again.
Thanks Bob for giving Matt a ride in the Golden Tiger.
What a great way to wind down the season - it was great to see all who came out.

Well the 4,025# 64 Wagon ran a 11.67, after several runs in the 11.80s. I don't think I can get more out of the 428 so I might have to run the 73 Ventura with the bigger motor next year.
Bob from Lynden blew a blower intake gasket out of his 67 LeMans but he did manage to win a show trophy.
A magazine is going to feature the 64 Tempest wagon and Bobs blown 67 LeMans in the near future. They were very indepth in gathering specs on the cars. Several photos were taken in the pits as well as on the track. They said the Tempest was the fastest wagon at the track, which is nice, but I didn't win a trophy. Thanks to Royal Bob who cut a better light.

Thanks everyone for a great weekend. Friday's test & tune was fantastic with perfect weather and good friends hangin and racin' It was a pleasure to host what I hope is an annual Friday night BBQ - thanks for coming. It was fun getting the '69 Savage back out on the track after two year hiatus. I was really happy with the way the car ran. To be in the 10's was my goal, and when I went 10.60 at 126, I was excited. I was really impressed with everyone - Guyle running 10.25, and Reedster clicking 10.66...wow. Bob Schmid's '65 made it's debut at the track, running 11.70 with a 4-speed and tripower. I last saw him run this car at a track at SIR in probably '85. What a clean, clean, clean '65.
Again thanks to all - especially Chuck and Annie for their great hospitality.
Brad
Sorry I missed the event.
But these reports are sure cool !
Glad to see the Savage Cuda out there kicking tail again and running a 10.60. Last I checked, that's pretty close to the 10.50's--even when you do "new math" :)
Reed Racing is launching that '66 GTO like a wild wild banshee,
Holy Sheet
check out the wheelstand and the 10.66 ET.
Mr. Ponsteen, running 11.60's that's pretty outstanding too, I wish I could have seen that car of yours, I sure do love wagons. What magazine is speaking with you or is it uncool to spill the beans until it's inked ?
Looks like Mr. Kennedy's '64 is lifting at least one wheel on launch too.
Holy Wheelstand Day it must have been
Thanks for sharing the pics
