- POCI FATHERS DAY CLUB – Mike relayed to the membership that the POCI Club awarded $25 to our Club in response to our club members attending their POCI Fathers Day event.
- THE LEMAY COLLECTION – Mike says we received a notification flyer from the Lemay Collection about their annual show.
- THE TOTEM NEWSLETTER – Mike received the Totem Newsletter and passed it around to our membership so that they could compare the quality of the Totem to our Newsletter.
- BUICK/OLDS/PONTIAC – Mike passed around the Buick/Olds/Pontiac Cruz flyer, which included some information about Jim Wangers.
- GOLD LEVEL CERTIFICATE – Mike displayed our GOLD LEVEL CERTIFICATE, which was awarded by the GTOAA to our chapter “In recognition of outstanding chapter membership affiliation for the year 2009”. The Northwest GTO Legends has a 100% membership in the national GTOAA.
OLD BUSINESS:
- AUGUST 2009 ANNUAL NORTHWEST MUSCLE CAR MEET – Mike talked about our recent Northwest Muscle Car Meet that was successfully held, once again, under threatening gray skies. Mike believes we can still reach over 200 cars. There was a discussion about the nature/goal of this show. Do we still want it to be larger? Would there be any problems for the XXX if we were to increase the number of cars that show up for this event? Mike says they have other car shows at the XXX that have up to 500 cars. John Pearson says he believes we can increase to number of car entries to 250 total cars without any new problems. The consensus belief by the membership after this discuss was that we could handle 200 to 250 cars, that we are very happy with the XXX facility for this event, and that our goal for this event next year is to surpass 200 car entries.
- WESTERN WASHINGTON FIREBIRDS – John Pearson talked about the Western Washington Firebirds show. John says it’s well run, including the registration process, but their promotion is lacking. They only had about 80 cars. John did not like the grounds, as he claims part of the display area was covered with “horseshit, not cowshit”, and it was also very dusty.
- JUDY/BRUCE BBQ – Wally Santella addressed the membership on the success of Judy Booth and Bruce Dyke’s BBQ at their lovely home in Briar. The food was great, the company was friendly and the conversations were interesting. We all took a detour and went over to see Steve Martins cars about 4 blocks away. Wally encouraged Judy and Bruce to do their BBQ again next year.
- CLUB T-SHIRTS AND SWEAT SHIRTS – Mike Santella talked to the membership about the great fuss we all went thru trying to decide what Club clothing articles to produce and now that the clothing articles have been completed, no one is clamoring for them yet. Mike says these items will be available and for sales at next months Club meeting.
- KEVIN SEDAN’S CAR COLLECTION – John Pearson updated the membership about viewing Kevin Sedans cars. John spoke to Kevin and he is open to viewing his collection as soon as they finish expanding their storage space. John says maybe in 2 years.
- DES MOINES MARINA SATURDAY AFTERNOON CRUZ IN – Rick Johnson talked about people who showed up at the Des Monies Marina and no one else was there. John Pearson suggested fliers to promote this Cruz-In and that “people who go down, should stick around, stay around and hang around”
- INVITING JIM WANGERS TO XMAS PARTY – Mike Santella brought up the subject of inviting Mr. Wangers to our Club Xmas Party again this year. Mike reminded the membership that Jim is found of our club and our Xmas Party and always looks forwarded to coming up to Seattle for this event. Mike asked the membership to think about this and to be prepared to make a decision at next month’s club meeting.
