Hey folks -
I have been working with David Williams at the Hydroplane Museum in Tukwila on a club event for club members.

We have reserved the date of Saturday, January 16th, 2010
Group discounted admission will be $5.

We will make this a coffee and donuts affair. This will be a guided tour of all of the boats in the museum, the memoribila in the cases and on the walls, as well as a look behind the scenes in the back where the boats are actually restored.

Should be a great way to kill a Saturday with your fellow GTO pals!

More details to come as the date draws closer.

Mike,

Thanks for organizng this, we will be there.
In addition to GTO's, my next passion is boats - especially fast ones.
Should be a great way to spend a Saturday in January.

Any type of organization with the name THUNDER BOATS has got to command some respect.
I really liked checking out the big old machine with the Allison engine that came to our MCM.

Thx for organizing this and count me in

I'm in, not that I like fast boats. 8 knots and a cocktail in my hand is my way of boating.

I'm one of those kids who dragged a homemade plywood Miss Thriftway around on a string behind my bicycle during Seafair. Drywall nails sticking out the front center to mimic exhaust pipes. Gotta go see 'em.

Ah, I had the plywood Notre Dame boat, never got beat by another boat in my neighborhood, although the telephone pole on the corner got me every now and then, just couldn't lift on the pedals enough to slow down and make the corner.

Thanks Mike for putting this together. I really enjoyed seeing the history of Seafair and the boats. Really fascinating stuff! Makes me appreciate living in Seattle. Great job!

Agreed. That was fun. I was surprised how many of the boats I remembered seeing in the water. It brought back some good memories.

Hey Mike, nice job! Thanks, that was fun.

Does this look like a natural position?

http://www.northwestlegends.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2581&stc=1&d=1263750462

And how is this one for making you feel like you are on the water?

http://www.northwestlegends.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2582&stc=1&d=1263750632

And dang it, I should have worn my pins. I have every one of these helm pins in my garage. I think they sold for a buck as a fundraiser for Seafair?

http://www.northwestlegends.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2583&stc=1&d=1263750753

And here is the boat that my plywood hydro that I dragged behind my bike was modeled after:

http://www.northwestlegends.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2584&stc=1&d=1263751327

I bet she would have beat that Notre Dame that Stefan said was so fast around that phone pole course?

And one more, this one catches the spirit of the day, and to some extent, the club in general. Here is Brandon getting some new information from a guy who practically drooled when describing the boats and Don passing on the passion by getting photos of his grandkids in the drivers seat of one hot boat. Sweet!

That is the same boat that they fired up at the Muscle Car Meet last summer.

Somebody is going to have to help me here. I posted them the only way I know how and they show up fine on my laptop. I uploaded them to the site, then clicked the add photo icon and pasted the URL for the photo. What else should I do? Does nobody see the photos?

That is a lot of echos!

OK, I'll try to put the photo in post 25 in again. That was the one with Don (geewheezer) in it. How about now?

Anybody who still can't see the photos? There are 4 photos in post 24 and one (same as below) in post 25.

And after all this, they aren't really that great of photos. Anybody else going to post up photos? I saw some other cameras there that day.
