CLUB CORRESPONDENCE:

Mike Santella updated the membership on the receipt of the following Club Correspondence for this month: Puget POCI, LeMay Group, Northern Colorado GTO Club Newsletter, and the Gateway GTO Club of St. Louis. Mike says these correspondences came as a result of our Club Newsletter.

OLD BUSINESS:

- 2009 CLUB HOLIDAY WEEKEND – Mike Santella explained the plans for this year’s Club Holiday Weekend which is scheduled for December 5th and 6th:

SATURDAY 10:00AM - DYNO PULL at Carb Connection in Redmond. Any member can bring his/her car and for a special club discounted rate of $50 and make as many pulls as they want. Normally, the cost is $75/pull.
SATURDAY 4:00PM – CLUB MEETING – Our December Club Meeting will start at 4:00pm and will be abbreviated to some extent. This will be followed by 2010 Club Officer Elections. After that, we will have our annual club Xmas dinner which will start around 6:00pm. After dinner & desert, we will begin our yearly club special recognition and awards, followed by our always enjoyable and funny club humorous awards, which will be MC’ed by that humorous stand-up comedian, Lonnie Santella. We will then move on to our annual goofy Xmas gift exchange. Remember, you bring a gag gift, that costs no more than $15, and it will end up in the hands of some innocent club member before the night has ended.

SUNDAY 10:00AM – MCKAY CAR COLLECTION - We will tour Gary McKay’s super Ford collection and fantastic Garage in Tacoma. Look for details and directions in the November club newsletter.
SUNDAY 12:00PM – LUNCH WITH JIM WANGER’S – We will brake for lunch with Jim Wangers.
SUNDAY 2:00PM – APKER CAR COLLECTION – We will tour Gordon Apker’s Classic Car Collection in Des Monies. This should include some great old classics like Packards, Duisenbergs, Lincolns, Cadillacs, Chryslers and many others.

- XMAS DINNER MENU – Ann Santella talked to the membership about the choices and options for this year’s Xmas Dinner menu. After some discussion and clarification, the membership decided on two main choices, “Italian” and “Traditional”. The cost will be set at $28/person, payable at the door. The “Italian” dinner will feature Penne and Tortellini Pasta, Chicken Parmigiana, with your choice of Alfredo and/or Marinara sauce, garlic parmesan bread and Caesar salad. The “Traditional” dinner will feature Roast Turkey, Chef’s Baby Red Potatoes, vegetables de jour, Apple Waldorf Salad, pasta salad, and fresh peasant bread with creamy butter. All dinners will include fresh brewed coffee, decaf, and ice tea. If you want dessert, you will have to order that separately. You will have 5 deserts to choose from, at a cost of $4/person.

- 2010 CLUB OFFICER NOMINATIONS – Mike Santella asked the attending membership for Club officer nominations for 2010. The results were:
- President: There were no nominations to run in opposition to Mike Santella
- Vice President: Mike Santella nominated Pat Murphy. Since current VP, Mitch Bleitz was not in attendance and Pat was running unopposed, Pat will be this year’s club VP.
- Treasurer: Carolyn Warren nominated Gary Tischer for Treasurer, but Gary declined, so Judy Booth will run unopposed.
- Secretary: No one was nominated, so Wally Santella will run unopposed.
Officers will be formally sworn in at the December club Meeting.

- T-SHIRTS AND SWEAT SHIRTS FOR SALE – Brad Barrie brought the first offering of this year’s club clothing articles for sale to the membership. There was a long line of members forking out their hard earned money for long-sleeve and short-sleeve T-shirts, and sweat shirts. The short-sleeve shirts were $15, the long-sleeve shirts were $20, and the sweat shirts sold for $25.

- THIS YEARS DUES RENEWAL PROCESS – Wally Santella explained this year’s dues renewal process. The GTOAA will send their first mailing of January’s renewal notice cards the week of October 19th. All NW GTO Legends club members receiving those renewal notice cards are to check to make sure the information on the cards is still accurate, correct anything that is not, and send the card, their GTOAA dues of $35 and our NW GTO Legends dues of $15 to Wally’s home address of 4845 South 175th Street, SeaTac, WA 98188. That’s a total of $50, either cash or a check, made out to the order of: Northwest GTO Legends. Members can also choose to bring their card and check or cash to the December club Meeting and make their payment directly to Wally. After our December club meeting, Wally will send a single check, for the dues renewal of all members who have paid to that point, along with any card corrections to the GTOAA, who will register the payment and update their member database. The GTOAA will send out a 2nd January dues renewal reminder to members who have not paid their dues yet, in the middle of December, with the last issue of their “The Legend” magazine. Club membership dues for 2010 must be received by the GTOAA no later than December 31st, or the member will not receive their “Legend” magazine for the month of January and will not be considered an active member of the GTOAA for the new, year.

- INCREASING THE NORTHWEST GTO LEGENDS CLUB DUES – Mike Santella addressed the membership with idea of increasing our yearly dues from $10 to $15 to help boost the available funds in our club’s bank account. Mike also explained the rational behind our decision to have 100% of our members to also be members in good standing in the GTOAA. In essence, members of our club also have to be, by club policy, members in the GTOAA. There are many reasons for this policy, including the insurance coverage we get from the GTOAA for our events, and the fact that all of the things that the GTOAA stands for and the services that they provide, are the same things that we believe in, use, and value. A motion was raised to increase our club dues to $15/year and it was passed unanimously.

- INVITING JIM WANGERS TO OUR XMAS PARTY – Mike Santella updated the membership again on our plans to bring Jim Wangers to our club holiday week activities in December. Jim has accepted our invitation, and will travel to Seattle on Thursday, December 3rd and will leave on Monday, December 7th. Jim’s friend Dave Anderson will once again travel with him. The club will put Jim up at a local hotel, during his stay in Seattle. Jim will join us for the dyno pull at Connection Carb, our December club meeting activities, where he will provide a presentation, and on Sunday for the car collection tours that we have arranged.

GUEST SPEAKER OF THE MONTH:
There was no Guest speaker of the Month for October.

SHOP TALK:
The shop talk feature was skipped this month, because of the tight schedule for November’s club meeting.

50/50 Raffle: A 50/50 raffle was held and Rick Anderson won $48, with $48 going to the club coffers.

MEETING ADJORNED:
The club’s Business Meeting was adjourned at 5:30 PM, by Mike Santella. Next meeting will be held at the Great American Casino in Tukwila, on December 5th, at 4:00pm.
