Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(December 5th, 2009)
MEETING OPENED:
Meeting called to order at 4:05 pm by our President, Mike Santella, at the Great American Casino in Tukwila, WA.
GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
Mike Santella called for guests and new members and introduced Pat Collins as a new member who owns a 68 Vedoro Green GTO and Jack Rycinsky, who owns a 69 carousel red Judge. Another new member, Jeff Johnson, who owns a 66 palmetto green GTO also joined our club.
SECRETARIES REPORT:
Wally Santella provided December’s 2009 Secretaries Report. November’s Club Meeting minutes were read to the membership and posted to the Club’s Website.
TREASURES REPORT:
Judy Booth presented the Treasures Report, announcing a Beginning Balance of $2,819.02 and an Ending Balance of $2,457.94.
CLUB CORRESPONDENCE:
There was no Club correspondence for this month.
OLD BUSINESS:
- JIM WANGERS – Mike Santella introduced Jim Wangers as our special guest for the Club’s Xmas Weekend this year. Jim will put on a special presentation later in the meeting, talking about the demise of Pontiac Division of General Motors.
- YEARLY CLUB DUES RENEWAL – Wally Santella reminded the membership to get their Club dues renewals in by December 15th, so that he and Judy Booth can submit the Club’s dues renewal roster and payment to Beth Butcher of the GTOAA by December 18th.
- DYNO PULL – Mike Santella described today’s special event, the Dyno Pull, which occurred at the Carb Connection in Redmond earlier today at 10:00am. Mike identified a number of members who brought their cars to be to be checked out on the Dyno, including Stephen Fafnis, Mike Buzard and Jeff Rogers.
- SUNDAY 10:00AM – MCKAY CAR COLLECTION – Mike reminded the membership of the first event planned for Sunday, the tour of Gary McKay’s super Ford collection and fantastic Garage in Tacoma. Directions are provided in the November club newsletter.
- SUNDAY 12:00PM – LUNCH WITH JIM WANGER’S – Mike explained our plans to brake for lunch with Jim Wangers after the McKay car collection event, at the Red Robbins in Des Monies.
- SUNDAY 2:00PM – APKER CAR COLLECTION – Mike also reminded the membership of our planned tour of Gordon Apker’s Classic Car Collection in Des Monies. This should include some great old classics like Packards, Lincolns, Cadillacs, Chryslers and many others.
NEW BUSINESS:
- JANUARY 16th HYDROPLANE MUSEUM TOUR – Mike Santella explained his efforts to reserve a tour for our Club of the Hydroplane Museum in Kent, WA.
- 2010 CLUB OFFICER RESULTS – Mike Santella formally announced the results of this year’s Club Officer Elections:
- President: Mike Santella
- Vice President: Pat Murphy
- Treasurer: Judy Booth
- Secretary: Wally Santella
- RICK JOHNSON’S XMAS LIGHTS – Rick Johnson invited the membership to drop by his house to view his Christmas lights display for this year.
GUEST SPEAKER OF THE MONTH:
- JIM WANGERS PRESENTATION: Jim gave an emotional presentation of the history of General Motors and the demise of the Pontiac Division. Jim presented his thoughts and incites and shared his frustration with the miss-directions and poor decisions that brought the once proud Pontiac Motor Company to its ultimate demise.
SHOP TALK:
The shop talk feature was skipped this month, because of the tight schedule for December’s club meeting.
MEETING ADJORNED:
The club’s Business Meeting was adjourned at 4:55 PM, by Mike Santella. Next meeting will be held at the Great American Casino in Tukwila, on January 2nd, at 5:00pm.
