Mike talked about the spirited and humorous exchange between Gary Tischer and Gary McKay, discussing their recollections of various drag race experiences. Mike also talked about Gary’s recent purchase and expected delivery of a 1965 GTO that he will add to his collection. Mike talked about Gordon Apker’s Pizza Chain business and the fact that he lives in Arizona 6 months a year, and DesMoines 6 months a year.

NEW BUSINESS:

- GTOAA’s NEW CHAPTER AFFILIATION REQUIREMENTS FOR 2010 – Wally Santella read the letter from Robert Alexander, GTOAA’s President, about their new policy for chapter affiliation. The GTOAA has decided to retain their requirement that chapters that were formed prior to 2000 must have at least 50% of their members also registered as current members of the GTOAA. But, they have also developed a new designation for those chapters with at least a 40%-49% GTOAA membership, which they call an “Associate Club”. This designation starts on Jan 1, 2010 and all other existing chapters that meet prevailing GTOAA membership requirements will be designated “Official Chapters”. Any chapters chartered after 2000 are required to maintain 100% GTOAA membership. Associate Clubs have lesser benefits; they will forfeit their GTOAA affiliation if they drop below 40% GTOAA membership; they will be list separately in the LEGEND and the GTOAA Website; are not eligible for no-cost GTOAA liability insurance; cannot purchase GTOAA Directors & Officers liability insurance; cannot protect a 100% chapter from being formed in their same geographic area, and are not eligible for Chapter of the Year;

- DETROIT AUTO WORKS – Rick Johnson talked about his experiences with the Detroit Auto Works.

- 2010 PONTIAC PICNIC IN THE PARK – Pat Murphy addressed the membership about starting to think about plans for this year’s “Pontiac Picnic in the Park”. The membership discussed different ideas about where to go, including Port Townsend, Salty’s, Forse St. Park Centralia, Mud Mountain in Enumclaw, Larbey Park in Chukanutt and Lake Wenatchee.

- Bruce Dyke got his re-production red-fender liners and will be installing soon.
- Wally Santella announced the start of his frame-off restoration of his 64 GTO.
