Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(May 1st, 2010)
MEETING OPENED:
Meeting called to order at 5:05 pm by Michael Santella our President, which was held at the Great American Casino in Tukwila, WA.
GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
Frank Getty and his wife Tracy were introduced as new members. Frank has a nice 2006 GTO with black interior.
SECRETARIES REPORT:
Wally Santella provided May’s 2010 Secretaries Report. April’s Club Meeting minutes were read to the membership and posted to the Club’s Website.
TREASURES REPORT:
In Judy Booth’s absence, Michael Santella presented the Treasures Report, announcing a Beginning Balance (as of 3/6/10) of $2,318.01 and an Ending Balance of $2,403.06.
CLUB CORRESPONDENCE:
- Michael Santella shared 6 GTO club newsletters with the membership. Mike says his ultimate goal is to get club newsletters from all of the affiliated GTOAA clubs in the country.
GUEST SPEAKERS OF THE MONTH:
Michael Santella introduced Steve Ptacek and Randy Wilson from All a Fire to discuss their printing services. Steve explained to the membership that they can take client images and reproduce them on different media/materials, including canvas or vinyl poster material. The canvas comes with hangers. Steve explained that you can send your images to them on CD as well. They will also be able to provide, in the near future, your images in a light box. They can also produce banners, as large as 5 foot wide by however long you want.
OLD BUSINESS:
- TOM COOK TOUR – Michael Santella talked to the membership about his attendance in the Tom Cook Tour, which is located in Midway, just south of the land fill. Michael said he saw many Packards, Lincolns and other classic cars and was very impressed.
- 2010 SPRING CAR CLINIC – Gary Tischer gave a recap to the membership on this years Spring Car Clinic. Gary said they had a lot of room, but not many cars to work on. Michel Santella also described Ted Knapp’s warehouse has very large and reported that the weather was good and they had a few great burnouts. Mike suggested that they would try to move the date next year so that it does not conflict with the Portland Swap Meet.
- PONTIAC PICNIC IN THE PARK – Mark Bilyeu addressed the membership on the status our plans for this year’s “Pontiac Picnic in the Park”, which will be held on July 10th. Mark explained that he scouted out the Mud Mountain facility and felt it could hold 300 cars comfortably. He said there were places for the kids to play and reminded the membership to think about their famous B&S Smoked Ribs orders, at $7.00/ ½ rack.
- GREENWOOD CAR SHOW – Tom Willett talked to the membership about this year’s Greenwood Car Show, which will be held on June 26th. Tom described it as a great show with lots of fun. To enter your car will cost $25/car and Tom says if you are planning to attend, to see him as he will be coordinating our club presence. Tom will provide more details next month.
- HISTORIC VINTAGE VEHICLE RACE – Tom Willett also addressed the membership on this year’s Historic Vintage Vehicle Race which will be held on July 3rd and 4th. The race starts at 1:00pm and just before it starts, our car club entries will be able to drive around the track for a tour lap. Tom will also coordinate this event and would like to get 12 of our club cars entered. He says he has 8 so far. The club voted to subsidize the first fifteen club cars to enter into the Car Coral at $10/car.
- JULY’S NW GTO CAR CLUB MEETING – The membership voted to move July’s club meeting to July 10th and to hold it at the Pontiac Picnic in the Park at Mud Mountain.
NEW BUSINESS:
- 2011 GTOAA NATIONALS TO BE HELD IN PORTLAND, OREGON – Michael Santella provide more information about next years GTOAA Nationals. Mike says the Host Hotel for this event will be the Marriott on the Columbia river. Mike says to make your reservations as soon as you can and when the Marriott is complete booked, they will inform us of the “overflow” hotel.
- 2010 TIGER RUN – Michael Santella talked to the membership about plans to caravan down to Tiger Run’s 20th Anniversary. Mike reminded the membership about the Goat Herd’s interest in our members volunteering to help out with Tiger Run. Mike to a poll and about 8-10 of the members in attendance say they are planning to got to Tiger Run this year.
- 2010 RODS AND REELS CAR SHOW – Gary Tischer mentioned this year’s Rods & Reels Car Show to the membership. Gary says they typically have a good turn-out and there is a fishing derby as well.
SHOP TALK:
- No Shop Talk was covered at May’s meeting,
50/50 Raffle - A 50/50 Raffle was held and our new member, Frank Getty won $27.50 and $27.50 went to the Club.
MEETING ADJORNED:
The club’s Business Meeting was adjourned at 6:25 PM, by Michael Santella. Next meeting will be held the at the Great American Casino in Tukwila, on June 5th, at 5:00pm.
