Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(June 5th, 2010)


MEETING OPENED:
Meeting called to order at 5:15 pm by Michael Santella our President, which was held at the Great American Casino in Tukwila, WA.

GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
Jeff Driscole from the western Washington Firebirds was introduced as a special guest.

Brian Canfield from the Greenwood Knights came to our Club meeting to talk about their plans for this year’s Greenwood Car Show. Brian passed out info cards for this year’s event and wants our Club to participate again. Brian announced that Seafair has accepted the Greenwood Car Show as part of their Seafair Summer Events. This year they will close off 23 blocks and expect over 700 cars. Brian explained that they have made arrangements for Club cars to come in on a side street and Tom Willett will coordinate this activity. Lance Lambert will cover the Greenwood Show and will film the entire show and Lance will make DBD’s available for $15 each in September. Brian says pre-registration is $25 and $30 at the gate. Our parking place will between 78th and 79th and we can enter on 78th. Brian says they would like our Club cars to arrive before 6:30am. Brian wants to form a strategic alliance with other clubs and has invited our members to help/volunteer at this year’s event, including monitoring and managing the side streets. Anyone who is interested in volunteering should see Tom Willett.

SECRETARIES REPORT:
Wally Santella provided June’s 2010 Secretaries Report. May’s Club Meeting minutes were read to the membership and posted to the Club’s Website.

TREASURES REPORT:
Judy Booth presented the Treasures Report, announcing a Beginning Balance (as of 5/01/10) of $2,194.01 and an Ending Balance of $1,971.93.

CLUB CORRESPONDENCE:
- Michael Santella shared a number of other club newsletters with the membership, including the Totem Newsletter and the Diamond.

GUEST SPEAKERS OF THE MONTH:
There was not Guest Speaker this month.


OLD BUSINESS:

- 2010 GTOAA NATIONALS – Michael Santella addressed the membership and asked for a volunteer member to attend this year’s GOAA Nationals, which will be held in Dayton Ohio. Mike stated that the Club will pay part of the cost, but no one volunteered during the discussion.

- 2010 TIGER RUN – Steve Martin reported on this year’s Tiger Run. Steve described the weather as being good, except for the drive down and the drive back. Steve talked about their Gambling Night, which was held in a facility about the side of our meeting room at the Great American Casino. Steve says there were a lot of attendees from Canada and about 20 members from our Club. In total, about 120 – 145 cars were entered this year. Steve reported that the banquet was very good and added that all rooms for the year after next year have been reserved.

Steve highlighted the fact the Dave Kennedy won the drag races and the class award at this year’s show and provided the following Club member award winners:
1. 66-77 Stock Convertible – Dave Gunderson – 2nd Place
2. 68-69 Stock Convertible – Steve Martin – 1st Place
3. 70-71 Stock Convertible – Jim Bozony – 2nd Place
4. 64 Modified – Gary Ticher – 1st Place
5. 65 Modified – Dave Kennedy – 1st Place
6. 68 Modified – Mark DaCosta – 1st Place
7. 2004-2006 Modified – Don McLaughlin – 3rd Place
8. 68-74 G2 Tiger Jr. – Bob Bukoski – 1st Place
9. 68-74 Tiger Jr. – Brent West – 3rd Place
10. Competition Modified – Kevin Sullivan – 1st Place
11. The Judge – Larry Moore – 1st Place

- 2011 TIGER RUN – Mike Santella updated the membership with the news that there is a new host hotel, the Red Lion at Janzen Beach. Rooms will be $129/night (with 2 queen beds) from July 4th thru July 8th.

- PONTIAC PICNIC IN THE PARK – Mark Bilyeu provided another update on this year’s event which will be held on July 10th at Mud Mountain Dam. Mark reminded the membership to get their B&S rib orders in ($7.00 per ½ rack). Mark also explained that there will be 4 caravans leaving from the following check points at 8:30am: (1) the XXX Drive-In in Issaquah, (2) The McDonalds at I5 & 512, (3) The Great American Casino in Tukwila, and (4) the Jack-in-the-Box on 15th in Auburn. Also, our July Club Meeting will be held at this event around 12:00 noon


NEW BUSINESS:

- AUGUST CLUB MEETING – Mike Santella addressed the membership about the need to find another place to hold the August club meeting as our usual place, The Great American Casino will not be available. Mike presented 4 options to the membership: (1) The LeMay facility in Tacoma, (2) Griott’s new facility on 38th Street in Tacoma, (3) the XXX Drive In, in Issaquah and (4) Bruce and Judy Dyke’s home in Briarwood. A decision was made to hold the August Club Meeting on July 31st, at the XXX Drive In, in Issaquah.

- THE ALL-PONTIAC SHOW – Brent West addressed the membership with his request that our Club makes the All Pontiac Show a “designated club event”, to be held on August 15th. Michael Santella made a motion to the membership and it was passed.

SHOP TALK:
- No Shop Talk was covered at May’s meeting,

50/50 Raffle - A 50/50 Raffle was held and won by John Pearson. JP picked up and extra $32.00 and $32.00 went to the Club.

MEETING ADJORNED:
The club’s Business Meeting was adjourned at 6:30 PM, by Michael Santella. Our next meeting will be held at the Pontiac Picnic in the Park, at Mud Mountain Dam, at 12:00pm, on July 10th.
