OK - everyone has their opinion. However, what brand/type fits best in a conv, 68 MT car? The current headers I have are some basic crap - hooker, blackjack etc. and are so damn tight it is hard to adjust the clutch rod properly. any suggestions? thanks, Joe

D-port Cast Iron header. Thermal coat them first.

Hooker does not make bad headers, I have a pair and while the clearance is tight for clutch rod adjustment and they're close to brake lines, lots of people run these without any issues.
HotRod 64 suggested the "D port cast iron header".

I have a set of Doug Thorley headers and I find the fit good and the nice thick flanges don't leak...

If you don't want to deal with exhaust leaks and clearance issues, go with the cast iron manifolds. Run headers, and it will be work to install and manintain.

Ram air manifolds are good as headers to 475 hp but do not leak and do not hang below the car and hit everything.

My Doug Thorley headers are have never leaked since installed 9 years ago and they don't hang any lower under the car than my 10 qt. oil pan. I love them, but then I am running over 500hp, too.
Stock D-Port Cast Headers. I have aftermarket headers and will be cutting them into small pieces and melting them down out of principal.
