Legends and guests -
The combination of Seafair and cloudy, misty and at one time just plain rainy weather were enough to knock attendance down to an all time low in the 10 years I have been involved with the Northwest Muscle Car Meet. All of that being said, 71 brave souls didn't let grey skies and wet roads prevent them from attending this year's meet. To you, I give my sincere thanks for coming out and supporting our show. Every year new cars we have never seen before come out of the woodwork to make this event special and this year was no exception. We saw some amazing cars that have been away from the show for a few years, as well as some first time attendees, parked right beside some perennial favorites. As bad as the weather was early on, the cars that turned out were outstanding examples of American muscle at its finest. As we predicted while huddled under the registration tent during the downpour, the weather was partly sunny, warm and dry by the time we headed for home. Not sure why we can't count on the second weekend in August as being a safe bet for sun (the last 4 years have all been grey or worse) but this year's meet was another resounding success.
It is important to recognize the following volunteers who were instrumental in making this event safe and successful. Mark B, whose van, has become the MVP of the club for all of the function related stuff it has carried for us this year. To the God Father for helping Mark, Betty and the God Mother collect the gate, hand out the goodie bags and direct drivers where to go from 6:30 AM through high noon. Ted Knapp, Rick Rosen, Pete Cossette and anyone else I may be forgetting who helped with the directing and parking of cars - I thought this year's effort to group like-cars was the best it’s ever been. Judy Booth who manned (or womaned) the raffle ticket sales, side by side with Brandon Warren, whose registration format made for a very fast sign-in and vote tally, which took hours off of the process of registering cars and counting votes. (Next year we will definitely push for more on-line registration, as this process made a tedious job a breeze.) My partner in crime JP, who took good care of the awards and helped get them into the winners hands, as well as our newest and youngest helper Dominic, who helped break the tension during the awards ceremony. A firm handshake and a hearty congratulations from a 6-year-old can make anyone smile. Brad Barrie - the awards came out excellent again this year. Don't know how you do it, but we are lucky to count you as a club member. Jose, Junior and the Triple X Family who have taken excellent care of us for 5 years and counting with food and raffle prizes and did it all with smiles on their faces. You folks are a class act.
It is also very important to recognize the following sponsors, whose generosity and willingness to get involved make this all possible. In no particular order - Griot's Garage, Performance Radiator, Northwest Differential, Omni Brake and Wheel Alignment, Drivelines Northwest, Accutran Transmission Burien Upholstery Hilton Garden Inn, Bradley's Auto Detail, Carb Connection, Highline Frame and Alignment, Evergreen Muscle Cars, Kirkland Classic Cars, Lithia of Renton, Sunnydale Muffler, Jim Green Performance, and our gracious meeting host - Great American Casino. Please remember these folks when you are out and about and especially if you find yourself needing something done to your car. Most of all, I once again want to thank you who brought your cars to our event, in spite of what looked like a lost cause, weather wise. Can't have a car show without cars!
If any of you have some pictures captured from today, please feel free to add them below, as I promptly left camera sitting on my desk this morning and didn't get a single shot.
I have missed anyone I am truly sorry. Please lob in and let us know if you or someone you know deserves a mention here. I am getting a little rummy at this point and need to call it a day. Thanks again for all the help.

The only person you left out was Mike Santella. Another great job Mike. Thanks for your hard work.

In my drowsy malaise last night I failed to mention a special thanks to our webmaster for putting us on the map from a visibility stand point and driving awareness for our function(s) by building the best website of its kind in the hobby - maybe even the world. Lonnie - you are the man. The fliers always look killer and fit in perfect form with the website you built. No doubt the visibility for our events (and therefore the turnout) is largely due to what folks see and read on our website. The count down ticker for events is the icing on the cake! I am already looking forward to next year's flier commemorating our 25th Silver Anniversary meet. Thanks again for keeping us and our hobby visible for the world to see!

Without Mike this event doesn't happen. Thanks!

I missed it (again) due to an annual board meeting in Oregon on the same weekend, but I saw all the great planning work that went into this and you deserve a huge shoutout!

Thanks Mike!

And to the rest of the volunteers - thanks!
