Tranny Leakage!!

Hey everybody again!

Well the deeper I get into this car the more i discover. We moved the car around a bit the other day driving around the yard and turning it over and now its leaking tranny fluid :confused: . The fluid is slowly dripping out of the rear of the transmission where it meets the drive shaft. A friend said its probably the "main seal". Another buddy said that the main seal is in the front of the tranny and that is not possible. I know next to nothing about transmissions. Does anyone recommend a quick test so I can at least pinpoint the problem or a shop that can do work that wont break the bank???? Thanks again for the help guys

It should be relatively obvious if the leak is the rear seal. If you think it is the rear seal they are fairly easy to replace. The seal is very similar to the seal you would find on your drum brakes. After removing the driveshaft, it should be able to be removed by carefully prying out. Installing should be as easy especially if you can get your hands on a seal driver the right size. if you work carefully, you can drive the seal in using a hammer.
