Came across this car today for sale. Decent car for $7000. Started out in life as a LeMans/Tempest and is now sporting the GTO name plates. The original and well belt 326 engine is still in it, M22 4spd and 3.something posi (safe-t-track) rear. Nice sounding flowmasters really give it a great rumble too. It was an A/C car but is now missing all but the interior vents. I didn't drive it but the gentleman selling it started it and said it's nice to drive. He admits it's not without it's problems which he didn't go into but I'm thinking he's refering to the small amount of rust in the wheelwell areas and mixed matched interior. If interested, give him a call and have a chat. He's Jason at (360) 438-7999 Here's a couple pics.

When in high school my best friend bought a new 65 LeManns. His old man wouldn't let him get the GTO package and my buddy had to fight to get dual exhaust. Now he had a factory 326, 4-speed, dual exhaust machine. He (we) put on factory tri-power and man...that little 326 would get up and go. It was a good race in 1st and 2nd...but any bigger block car would pull still be in 2nd while we shifted into 3rd or even 4th.

My point is....this could still be a fun car to own and drive.

Gary, yep, that's exactly where it is. You should check it out if interested. The owner's a pretty nice guy and enjoys the chat.

That 326 would make a nice sporty driver for someone wanting a commuter car with the GTO " look" without putting the miles or exposure to daily driving on a valued GTO. Perhaps even a kids "college car".

Lets be serious, Some Lemans' and Tempests' are so nice that you wouldn't want to make them a daily driver. If had a car like Amber (pick-of-the-week) It would be too nice for a daily driver. :o
