Hi everyone.

I came across this site about a week ago and thought it was pretty cool so I signed up. This is my first post. :)

I have a FREMONT built 65 GTO that's missing it's original engine and I'm trying to figure out what a typical date range would be for a replacement block. I've been on the Performance Years forums for a while and asked there and the general opinion is that about 10-20 days prior to the body build date is typical for most cars built out east but "longer times" for Fremont built cars.

No one can really say what "longer" is so I'm trying to do a little survey of the fremont cars so here goes.

If anyone here has a Fremont built 65 GTO with it's original engine or POP I'd appreciate it if you could post or PM me the trim tag build date, invoice date from the PHS(if you have it) and the engine casting date with the EUN stamped on the front. If the engine is long gone then the trim tag build date and invoice date along with the EUN from the POP will be good info too.

Thanks Guys. :)

Lintmann - thanks for dropping in.
Not sure if this is much help, but may be something else to consider.
My dad has a service replacement block in his '64 (also a Freemont car.)
His dad owned the car since new. The engine broke a wrist pin causing some serious damage to the cylinder wall, somewhere in the late '60s. The engine he purchased was basically a new '64 389 from an engine supply place in Portland.
The reality is that many cars are on their second marriage, so to speak. Back then no one even looked at the build date of their car when buying a sr block. Just getting the correct year was about all an engine shop looked at.
Point being, that a service replacement block could have been dropped in your '65 at any point after your car rolled off the assembly line. Sounds like you are hunting for one now but really you could be buying a car in a similar situation to my dad's. His car was bought in Bellevue and the SR block came from a shop in Portland.... 30 years ago.
Just getting the correct year block is a victory in itself. Trying to get something within two months of the build date of your car is something like winning the lottery, but it is doable. I sold a friend a '65 389 within two months of his build date, so it can be done, but I would start working the Karma Gods now.
Not sure if this was helpful, but good luck with your search.
