Help! I'm in the process of reassembling a 67 GTO that I did not disassemble. I'm trying to install 1st generation rocker trims and don't know how the rocker attaches forward of the 6.5 liter emblem. There is a slot in the fender and the assembly manual shows a screw and nut type of attchment, but the new rocker clip kit both 1st and 2nd generation clip kits don't have provisions for the attachments. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Matt, I just got your VM from last night.
On mine, there is no screw ahead of the 6.5 litre emblem to attach the trim directly. I have the 2nd gen. lower rocker trim but I think both are the same. There is a slight relief in the rocker molding where it meets the wheel opening, the wheel well molding goes over this relief and "pinches" the fwd. edge of the rocker trim in place. Theres a screw that attaches the wheel well molding to the car. Or another way of looking at is that you have to install the rocker molding before you install the wheel well molding since the wheel well molding holds the front edge of the rocker molding in place..
Hope this makes sense!

It does make sense.
Thanks Matt
