Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(September 10th, 2011)
MEETING OPENED:
Meeting called to order at 5:00 pm by our Vice President, Don McLaughlin, at the great American Casino in Tukwila, WA. Since the membership voted to delay our usual first Saturday of the Month meeting date because of the Labor Day holiday, this meeting was sparsely attended by only 9 members and therefore was brief in nature.
GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
There were no guests and/or new members for the September meeting.
SECRETARIES REPORT:
Wally Santella provided the September 2011 Secretaries Report. Augusts’ Club Meeting minutes were read to the membership and posted to the Club’s Website.
TREASURES REPORT:
In Judy Booth’s absence, Wally Santella provided her Treasures Report balances as of ending date 8/20/2011 of $4,530.86.
GUEST SPEAKER OF THE MONTH:
There was no Speaker of the Month for September 2011.
OLD BUSINESS:
- RECAP OF OUR 2011 NORTHWEST MUSCLE CAR MEET – Don McLaughlin and Wally Santella led a discussion/recap of this year’s Muscle Car Meet. Everybody agreed that it was a success from the standpoint of good attendance (4 cars short of our previous record), good weather, and good margins for the Club as a result of sponsors coverage and less overhead (with the fine help of Milt Vine our DJ for this year’s event). The group discussed the ongoing struggle of staying at our current venue of the XXX, which would not let us grow too much in size, or considering a new venue that would allow us to become more aggressive in an effort to significantly increase the size of our Meet. No consensuses was reached by this discussion, which no doubt will be continued for discussion in the future.
-RECAP OF BRUCE AND JUDY’S BAR-B-Q – Wally Santella gave a recap of this years Bruce and Judy Par-B-Q. Wally reported that the weather was good, the food was good, and nice relaxing social gathering and discussion was had by those who attended. Those attending included of course Bruce and Judy, Judy’s sister and brother-in-law, Wally and Ann Santella, Mark and Betty Bilyeu, John and Linda Pearson, Steve Martin and his two guests, and a couple of other folks who were friends of Judy and Bruce.
-RECAP OF THE ALL PONTIAC SHOW – It was decided to skip a recap of this show until next month’s meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Because of the small attendance, there was no discussion of new business at this meeting.
SHOP TALK:
Wally Santella and Mark Bilyeu gave the membership an update on the progress of their frame-off restoration of Wally’s 64. The body’s sandblasting has been completed and the body was painted with epoxy primer. The chassis has been finished, including suspension (ball joints, upper and lower A-arm bushings), quick ratio power steering, disc brakes up front, 1 ¼ “ sway bar up front and 7/8” sway bar in the rear, new posi gears, 4-speed transmission overhaul with new gears, new shocks and coil springs, new brake lines and fuel lines). The chassis was sand-blasted, epoxy primered and chassis black painted. Next work will focus on engine assembly and completing body work, including new trunk floor pans.
50/50 Raffle: A 50/50 raffle was held and $3.50 was won by Jeannie Cossette and $3.50 went into our Club coffers.
MEETING ADJORNED:
The Club’s Business Meeting was adjourned at 6:00 PM, by Don McLaughlin. Next meeting will be held at the Great American Casino on October 1st at 5:00pm.
