OLD BUSINESS:
- RECAP OF OUR 2011 NORTHWEST MUSCLE CAR MEET – Don McLaughlin and Wally Santella continued a discussion/recap of this year’s Muscle Car Meet, as the membership in attendance was updated on this discussion that was started at September’s Club meeting. Once again, the membership discussed the pros and cons of moving our Northwest Muscle Car Meet to another venue. Various opinions were expressed and the consensus was to keep the show to around 160-170 cars and to stay at the XXX venue, with the main goal of keeping the quality of the event high as our main effort for earning money for our Club. It was also mentioned that our T-shirt sales were sold out and that we need more Large and X-Large shirts, and that we should increase the T-shirt price to $20 for next year’s event.
-RECAP OF THE ALL PONTIAC SHOW – Steve Martin gave the membership a recap of this year’s All Pontiac Show. Steve says the attendance was low with only about 70 cars. Steve says they might not hold the show for next year.
-RECAP OF BRUCE AND JUDY’S BAR-B-Q – Bruce Dyke gave a quick recap of this year’s Bar-B-Q, reporting that the weather was pleasant, the gathering was very social, the food was great and a good time was had by all. Those attending included of course Bruce and Judy, Judy’s sister and brother-in-law, Wally and Ann Santella, Mark and Betty Bilyeu, John and Linda Pearson, Steve Martin and his two guests, and a couple of other folks who were friends of Judy and Bruce.
NEW BUSINESS:
LEMAY CAR MUSEUM DISPLAY- Mike Santella reminded the membership that it is our turn to provide some club cars to be displayed at the Le May Museum in Tacoma. Mike called for club members to volunteer their cars for display purposes. Steve Martin and Bob Wise will consider participating. Mike says we need between 4 to 6 cars and to get in touch with him for planning purposes.
NORTHWEST GTO LEGENDS 2011 XMAS PARTY PLANS - Mike Santella lead a discussion of this year’s Xmas Party/Banquet plans. The membership in attendance voted to have this year’s event at the Great American Casino. Judy Booth will talk to Cathy of the Great American Casino to reserve the date and begin the planning process.
FUTURE GTOAA NATIONALS FOR THE NORTHWEST – Robert Weiss spoke to the membership about his conversations with G. Thomas Oxler (President of the GTOAA) and other representatives and the possibilities of hosting a future GTOAA Nationals in the Northwest again in the near future. According to Robert, the folks from the GTOAA were very encouraged by the success of this year’s event in Portland and would be very interested in having another future event in the Northwest. They encourage Robert and our Club to look into the requirements and planning necessities to hosting the annual event and that the GTOAA would help with various aspects of preparing and doing the National GTOAA Conference. Comments were voiced and shared from the membership in attendance about the tremendous challenges associated with doing this and there will surely be more discussions on this subject in the future.
SHOP TALK:
Robert Weiss talked to the membership about his recent purchase of a 1964 GTO Hardtop. Robert has been driving the car a lot since he purchase it and he brought it over to Wally Santella’s house for a quick look-see. Mark and Wally looked over the car and found it to be in great shape and will certainly reference it from time to time in their current restoration of Wally’s 64. We look forward to seeing more of Robert’s 64 at future club events.
50/50 Raffle: A 50/50 raffle was held and $22 was won by John Bozony, who was kind enough to donate his share of the $44 raffle to the Club.
MEETING ADJORNED:
The Club’s Business Meeting was adjourned at 6:00 PM, by Don McLaughlin. Next meeting will be held at the Great American Casino on November 5th at 5:00pm.
