Welcome Yvonne,
We're in the same boat as far as '65's are concerned. But you're probably alot more ready to buy than I am at the moment. The guys on this forum are fantastic at finding cars. If it's 66's or 67's you were interested in - GTO-AL has a sort of 6th sense for 'em.
Good luck in your search.

Hello to all and thanks for the welcomes. I am not sure if I reply to all of you at once. But here goes. We are 210 miles east of Portland on I 84. But over the pass we are 3.5 hours from Seattle.
We are not so picky on the year. But he really wants a 4 speed and tri power. I know that makes the price go up. :D
We should just get one done or at lest almost done. We just dont have the time to work on them. Although I enjoy working on them. We have been there and done that. We have a 1928 dodge brother victory sedan, that is just short of running. Needs electric fuel pump installed. ( all orginal) Just not enought time in a day :P
We would be intrested in any pic and info on cars 64-67. While I am writing. Does anyone know where I can get more info on the different interiors and options for the different years, and any other things to look for in buying a gto? As far as being nice looking for my husband , he deserves it :D
Thanks again and will be waiting to hear back from you

Yvonne,
*There's a nice site with a ton of information and GTO pictures. *Here is the site link:
http://ultimategto.com/
As for info on the different years? *Just ask :-)
Since you want a tri-power car then that really puts out the 1967 year as PMD didn't install tri-powers in '67. *Though that's my favorite year. *A great man once told me that the quadra-power 4 bbl that they put on the HO and ram-air '67s out performed the tri-powers anyway (wow, did I just open a debate LOL). *But still there's nothing like opening the hood of a GTO and seeing one it's trade marks with those three carbs sitting ontop a great engine.
Interior designs are as different as can be almost. *Each year has it's pro's and con's as far as looks. *Headrests were available in '66/'67. *Consoles were different between '66/'67. *Little trim differences between all the years too, like the '66 has black plastic squares in the grill where as the '67 has wire mesh.
*The '65s, which is your favorite year has it's own great designs and is a winner. *No other year like it.
One thing that I should share though, is that I'd suggest getting exactly what you want. *That 'right car will be worth waiting for. *Though, saying that, my friend owned a '69, loved it, wanted a '65 or 4 and ended up getting a great deal on a nice '66 4spd car and loves that one. *So I guess that means that most all years of GTOs are worth having. *Go look at the years you want, ask questions on here about the different years. *There is a ton of great people here and will more than happy to share their views. *
Oh, there was a '66 tri-power GTO mentioned on this site before that was for sale. *Go back and look into the earlier forums and check, does anyone know if that car is still available?
Al *(man I can get long winded)
PS, want a '68 factory PINK LeMans (hehehehehehehe)

Howdy Yvonne and welcome to the site!
I just joined the club last month kinda in the same boat as you are ,looking for a 66-67 GTO (need to wait a little longer) and these guys are great!
I have to repeat what Al suggested to you , since this is the theory I am following...Wait for the car of your dreams..It will be worth it.In the meantime, get as many books and talk to as many people you can find about these cars.A few good books that are fairly inexpensive are "THe illustrated GTO buyers guide by Paul Zazarine and "Cars & Parts magazine catalog of Pontiac GTO ID numbers 1964-74"They have alot of info and have educated me a ton in what to look for .
Another great resource is The club.I went to my first meeting this month and I learned something new from just sitting around,B.S'in with Al , Kevin and a few other members...and GTO_Al is the guy for 67's.( look at the posts under "a little intro" and "cars for sale" You can see pics of all the cars Al talked about!
Again,welcone to the site!
Mike (...Keeping an eye on Al's '66!!)
P.S A Quote From some one (not sure exactly who).."There are always more cars than buyers out there,so wait for your dream car...it will be there!

:) Good morning to all. I am back trying to read all the info on this site. It is going to take a while. lol I have already learned that the 67 does'nt come with a tri power. The most important thing is the 4 speed. Really not to picky on the year. Although the 65 is his favorite. We were bidding on a real nice 65 on ebay last week. After the auction closed. I found the same car for 23000 on hemmings. But he sold it to a local man for 25. We had gone as high as the 25. Sure wish I had checked hemmings a few days earlier. They dont seem to have new ads as often. Oh well our loss. I have been checking out web sites since last summer. Took me a while to find this one. I will be spending a lot of time here, I can tell already. Have a good one!
Oh before I forget could some one tell me about the tiger run? Is there a swap meet? Or any info on swap meets. We are going to the big one in Portland in April

Yvonne,
Me again, Tiger Run, a big GTO show in central Oregon during the Memorial Day week-end. Peopel start showing up in the area on Thursday or earlier and don't leave until Monday/Tuesday. A great event and a ton of GTOs. There is a swap meet as well on Saturday during the show. You can find anything from show cars to small parts. The week-end official events (I hope I don't leave any out) starts with the cruise in at Pilot Butte Drive In on Friday evening in Bend, OR. Then on Saturday is the show in Redmond, OR during the earlier part of the day followed by the awards banquet and guest speakers in the evening, this is at the fair grounds. On Sunday, the all Pontiac Drags at Madras are the days events. There are other things that maybe someone else can add to, like the dinners etc as the event comes to a close (I've heard there is one, I've not been there for that, I'm usually gone already) Not to mention the 'evening events' and all the gathering of goats and 'get togethers' during the entire week-end.
It's a must for GTO enthuseists whether you have one yet or not. There are pics on our web site about the Tiger Run as well as the goatheard web site in Portland.
You may or may not find what you're looking for there, but you WILL enjoy the event.
Yvonne,
Keep looking for the one you want. You can't go bad with any of them, but they are out there. Hemmings is a good place to look - but as has been mentioned on this site, our club is also a great contact point.

Hey Lonnie, I just found an ad for a sweet '65 rag with 77,000 original miles......................................... Asking 5 grand!
You'll have to excuse me I just had a relapse from a 1985 Auto Trader ad. Wish we could go back :-/
We'll keep looking though.

Just playin' with ya, I just cry when I look at these old ads I've collected. I probably have a stack of a hundred or so from 1984-1985. I had a roomate in College that bet me he could stick more beer bottle caps on the dorm cabinet than I could GTO ads. Well we each had a two door closet with cork paneling full of our tatoos. I filled mine up pretty quickly. But he drank alot of beer......I forgot who won.
