Bill,
They'll look like this. These are '65s but I think they're the same.

Hiya Al and Bill,
I think those poverty caps look great on a nice black steel rim, excellent for the granny-car, sleeper look.
I saw a write up on an early 60’s pontiac not long ago. The owner of the car had a custom wheel maker
make a set of custom , pretty wide 17 inch diameter wheels on which he mounted poverty caps. Pretty spendy but what a totally cool way to put a ton of rubber under the car but and at first and even second glance with side views of the car, fool the eye. Beanie caps, Pork pie, Poverty, whatever you call ‘em, I give them a thumbs up, especially on pre 1968 cars!!

Bruce,
I agree, and it just so happens that the '66 that I just bought originally came with them. You talk about sleeper, the '66 when new was pretty much that. A 1966 GTO, tri-power, M21 4spd, 3.90 posi, red with black interior with poverty caps on.
I already have a set of plain rims that I'll restore to black. I've seen alot of cars though that the rim was painted the body color, but I'm thinking I like like black better with the caps.

Hey AL, check out my old ride on the roster. Poverty caps were in effect, when rolling 14 inch rimz..........

Hi Al and Kevin, Posi, 3:90 gears, tripower, close ratio, poverty caps, great combo ! Kevin, I like that '66, heckuva grocery getter! Your blue '66 brings home the bacon a bit faster though, eh?

Bruce my 66 GTO 474cid, does bring home the bacon quick. It also ran poverty caps when new. But that was with the slow original drivetrain of WS tripower, 4sp and 355's. I think, I like the current combo. Yep I won't lose sleep over this one. ;) ;D

Well the sleeper idea won't work on your "66" ...since you can hear it coming a mile away !! :D

Gee Kevin, you wouldn't still have that 'old' "WS" block lying around would you ? And then wouldn't mind letting it go to a good cause?

Kev. you should know about exhaust. I would suggest you take to a professional. The Do-It-Yourself exhaust work on the freeway can net you John Law. ;D
