Welcome to the list! You have a great Project, and all of it is well worth while! Yes, the 455... well you can build that into anything! It will have a "little" ( ) better low end torque than say the original 400 had, which will motovate that large Goat off the line better etc...

You'll want to study up on which heads will be the best combination for what you have planned for the car. Most tend to go with 6X-4 heads on the 455's as they flow well in stock form (better with some porting) and keep the compression manageable for pump gas and daily driving.

6X-4 heads should have about a 94cc Chamber (2.11/1.66 valve sizes)while the 66 455 heads should be right around 114cc's (2.11/1.77 valve sizes) And the slightly smaller exhaust valves some say may help the low end torque slightly?

Anyway, with the 6X-4's you'd still have great drivability, and a little higher compression and therefore a little more grunt. BUT, if you were to have your #66 heads milled, and worked up (ported) a little (put the money for new heads into these) I think you could gain quite a bit of the ole seat of the pants feel! So I would say your doing just fine, and as always have room to expand.

Good luck, and keep us posted!
