??? I went to lift the trunk lid on my 69 Judge the other day and it was ten times heavier then usual to lift up. Looked inside the trunk and saw one on the torque rods hanging down. The rod had busted and twisted off about four inches on the end of one of the torgue rods. :-/
:'(Does anyone out there have any spare ones they might be able to sell to me ::)? I don't know if it can be welded as the broken off piece is twisted at the fracture :-/
I'm not going to Tiger Run if I have to prop up the trunk lid with a sawn off broom stick >:(
Hi Glenn,
First of all, I'd like to suggest that you erase the part in your brain that says you aren't going to Tiger Run for lack of a trunk lid torsion rod.
Second, I ran across a thread on PY about this subject, so I ran a quick search and found this...they're basically saying it's a difficult part to find and there don't seem to be repros on the market.
Here is the link to the thread

Good luck on this, maybe it can be welded? Keep us posted.

Are both rods the same shape and size? I know a blacksmith/knife maker that might be able to obtain the right type of material and bend it if he had an original to work from.
Same thing happened on my car, fortunately Donor Car's got two.
Good luck!

WHAT? Are you kidding Me? I can't believe you are going to let this hold you back. I will stand behind your car and hold it up at Tiger Run.

Hey Now!!
C'mon Glen, don't let a lousy trunk lid torque rod stop you from going to Bend!
Let see here you have not had your Judge to Bend since 1991 & a trunk lid torque rod is gonna stop you? ::)
Let's go go go!
Reed Racing & I built a 10 second GTO from a shell in the time you have from now until TR!
Let's ROLL! ;)
And if you need that broom stick to prop up your lid, i'll be glad to paint it Carousel Red for you! ;D

Glen,
I will personally take that carousel red broom stick that Mark painted for you and beat you over the head with it if you cop-out of going to Tiger Run.
No offense, you're a good man. But I will have to beat you with a carousel red broom stick if you don't go. ;D

Okay, so who is going to go get the Judge and deliver it to Bend. I'll bet Glen will then have to go just so he can retrieve his car. I'm sure we'll see the Judge in Bend, RIGHT GLEN? It would be a shame not to have that fine GTO for everyone to admire. See you there! :D

Glen, contact Pietro (Linguini Racing) . He has a 69 LeMans that should have the trunk tension rods in it. I believe they should fit just fine, and are probably available. See ya in Bend!
I'm pretty sure that the type that Glen is seeking only came on the Judges in '69-71 or GTO cars that came factory equipped with spoiler option :( and believe that It's purpose is to make it easier to open the trunk and to keep it open
