I am looking for a good tinted rear window for my '67.... ???

I was cleaning mine and found that who ever repainted the car before decided to sand the window too >:(

>:( ouch, that sucks. Can you polish it out? I know that Eastwood sells some stuff for polishing out scratches in glass. You might check that out if you can't find one for a decent price. Good Luck..

I just replaced my back glass and had a new tempered piece made here in Sumner at "Glassman" on Main St. I supplied them with a paper pattern off my old glass. The cost was about $95.00. They will make it in clear or tinted. I think the tinted is a bit darker than original though.

I checked the glass company that I use here and I can get a new one that is clear and they did a search for the soft ray tinted window, they found one in Chicago and they are getting a price on it.

Tempered glass can not be cut because it will bust into small pieces. The glass can be cut and then tempered, but there is no shops around here that can do that. What they probably did was cut down a laminated glass, which is OK. I have had them cut down windows for the '34 Pontiac that I streetrodded.

I will try to buff out the scratches if I can not find a good used one, I know that it can distort the view some , which is ok for the edges on the rear. ;)

Dunno how I missed the beginning of this discussion but Donor Car has Soft-Ray glass in it. You'd have to take it out of the car, but it's available. I've also got all the other windows except windshield. I don't know what condition it is in since it's dirty but I can pull the tarp off and run a little Windex over it to see.

Let's talk...

Maybe I should have mentioned that they cut the glass ...then sent it out to be tempered. *It can and is done. Just got to find a glass shop willing to do it. *I certainly spent some time looking. Most glass shops that I talked to did not recommend laminated glass. They said that in time I would not be happy because of fogging of the glass. I also checked some of the resto glass places for the same glass but they wanted over $200.00 plus between $50-75 for shipping.
