You might want to check with Ames to see what they've got. I did a quick check and found a repair kit as well as complete switch units all for under $100 each. Unfortunately there was no mention of column shufted automatic versions. There was a column shifted manual version that might be the same.

Call them to verify before ordering.

Hope this helps.

I think $40.00 would cover it, but let's be sure it will work first! I see in my Restoration Guide that '68 had the Ingition switch on the dash and the '69 was the first year for the switch on the column. You may be buying a lot of grief trying to interchange them. seems 67 and 68 are identical, but 69 was quite different! The book also warns that the column for the cornering lamp option is completely different again. Your call - but I think your search has not ended here. :(

Bill,

I guess the first question is whether or not you have cornering lamps on the car.

I've got a spare '67 column that I think has a switch unit but it hasn't been operational for years and I've never messed with it. Seems to me that you could invest a bunch of time in scouting out whether or not this one works or you could purchase a new one that will at least have a return policy of 30 days.

It's your call but if you want to look into the one I've got, your welcome to call me at 206-356-6157. I'm in Snohomish.

Hey Kendall... As you can see I have the other style :x[/img]

Icelander
10-28-2004, 09:10 PM
Hmm... Looks like the biggest problem will be that the Delco style switch will interfere with the light for your PRNDL indicator.

I found this on a Chevelle site. Wonder if they're the same or can give up their parts to make yours work.

I do not have the phone number handy but they are located right off of Pearl street in Tacoma. The store is 1-2 miles from the Narrows bridge and you can clearly see it from highway 16. I wish I could tell you more, if I can find the number I will gladly post it for you.

Well i gave them a call, and first they found nothing in the computer, Then they found nothing in their catalogs.... Bummer..
According to the "Ames" people this is a pontiac only part, they have discont. it. And no other makes will work. This must be why its so hard to find one... So i'm still looking...
Thanx again..

Ok! some new info for ya if you have not found a turn signal switch. Potomic classic pontiac in maryland has them. There are twon kinds to look for. One is blue and one is white. You will also need to see if the hazard switch is at 3 o clock or at 4 o clock. Here is the good or bad news. If it is the white switch and the hazards are at 3 o clock, umm, it is 189.00 bucks. If it has the hazard at 4 o clock it is 49 bucks. I hope yours is at 4 o clock because mine is at 3 and I have to pay out the nose. The number for potomic is 301-668-0101. They have both in stock!

I am finding it tough to talk the wife into buying a 189.00 turn signal switch just before Christmas. So the answer would be not right now. Besides, I am after my wiper transmition now, Potomic also had it new for less than the only wrecking yard in the state had it used. So i get that this weekend. But I will keep you up to date on when I get it and maybe we can get together to check if it is the one you need also.

That would be great... Hand and arm signaling is much easier than hand and arm wipers...

Hey Mark..... I've spoken with Kendall, and his idea for the repair is a very good one. Kendall will try to "replacate" the piece that attaches to the signal lever...Thats the part thats broken on mine. You could check out the pix of my column in the earlier posts in this thread...Is that the same part you need? Kendall plans to make A couple extra, but he can't get started for A couple weeks, if it's the part you need i'm sure He can get one to you, once he's got if figured out...

Icelander
09-30-2005, 08:09 PM
I my plan is to replace the plastic part that pivots and holds the turn signal in place till the cam kickes it back into the center position.
The idea is to fabricate the body of it out of plastic and then replace the plastic "springs" with spring steel. The hold up for me is that I start a new job next week and want to focus on getting a few paychecks under my belt before spending the cash for the plastic molding kit.

If you provide me with your shipping address, I can ship you one when they're ready.
