I'm in the process of bringing a '68 GTO convertible out of a 20 year hibernation. Got it running, sorta, more to do, but, since I'm an impatient wimp, I'm looking for a professional detailer in the Tacoma area who's familiar with these older cars, to clean and shine it up for me at a reasonable price. It's really in very good shape, except for some parking lot dings, and scratches here and there, but just needs a lot of elbow grease and knowledge to clean off 20 years worth of grime without destroying anything vital. Any suggestions? :-/
Welcome to the Legends Mr. Spit .Try a fella I know named Todd, Tel# 206-277-7869, he's in Burien and does this kinda thing. He did a great job on my car, including color sanding. Good luck and post a before and after pic for us

Thanks, Bruce, but it's MS. Spit. ;)
I'd like to find someone closer to home, but if not, then I may give him a call.
I apologize, it's sometimes easy to forget that GTO fans are not just men :-[
Tell us more about that '68 and...
Good luck with the detailing work

Welll, it's a 'still in the family car' that I got from my sister a few years ago, and finally got motivated to get it running. Pretty much all original, except for a power steering unit they added on later, because she had a hard time parallel parking it with those fat, wide ovals, 72,000 orig. miles, gold (I believe) on green, but it looks like green on green. Everything on it seems to work so far, except for the hood tach, (later for that). Very little power anything except for the top, thank goodness, (just more stuff to fix). Very little rust, it's been garaged most it's life. Spent the past couple of weeks trying to locate a matching bias ply white wall for the 3 good ones on the car, until she found it in her garage, rally wheel and all.
I started cleaning it up myself, this weekend, (with a lot of help from a friend). Seems to be cleaning up very nicely. May not be an impossible task, after all, but found a few more problems, though.
My first car was a new '66 LeMans convertible Sprint 6, so always had a soft spot for 'em.
BTW, also need the telescoping 3 section, non-power, oval, radio antenna mast, but hard to find. Suggestions?

Take a bow Skip - for deciding to resurrect your '68. ;D
Great story, it's a ragtop too! Even better ;D
By the way, the detailing guy whose number I gave is a mobile operation

Finally drove it around the block, yesterday. Didn't even get beyond 2nd gear, but it still left me breathless!

Heheh I remember that sensation. I've been driving 4 cylinders for so long that the contrast of a true muscle car is mind numbing. ;D
