Hi friends!
Anybody know a reputable place in the greater Seattle area where I can get my rear bumber straightened/rechromed?

I would try either Mastercraft or Art Brass in Seattle. They are expensive, but do excellent rechroming if you want it perfect. ;)

I gave my nasty front bumper to member Gary Tischer (AccuTrans transmission in Burien). He has a connection with a shop in California that picks up and delivers to his shop. I was quoted $300 for show quality, and should get it back any time now. I'll let you know how it looks.

Hey Redgoat...
I've been doing some research on this subject for my 68,
Mastercraft no longer does old bumpers, Art brass's price starts at $560.00 and goes up. Ames and year one have them at $350.00 + s/h. It really sounds like RANMAN65GTO was able to get the best deal around. If Randy is happy with the work done on his bumper you might try to contact gary..
I will..

Here's a place to try that I heard about from SD Performance. They did the rear bumper on Royal Bob's Gold Tiger and looks great. Although he is in BC he does alot of business in the states. I met the owner at a show and he is a total "car guy". He has a '55 Chevy and bad '70 Buick GS Stage 1. Give him a call and see what he can do for you.

Does this guy in BC just plate or does he straighten them too?

I ran into Martin, the owner today in Port Orchard at "The Cruz" car show there. I asked him to reply to this post himself to give everyone an idea of what he can do. He does a great deal of business here in our state, and has local places where you can drop off your parts (Port Orchard) and he comes down a couple times a month and delivers finished goods, and picks up parts awaiting plating/ refinishing. He knows show quality and is pretty reasonable too. Sounds like he repairs, polishes, & plates. Check out his website for more info.

Art Brass Platting

down by Boeing field, by the 1st south bridge, near 3rd and Luceile. My front bumper was in bad shape, rusted and bent. They charged me $450 but did a wonderful job. Wanted my to fit it on the car after straightening and then they cromed it. Good and reliable. Ken M. Ballard.

One more option is the Chrome Shop in Portland,$300.00 each and no sales tax.

I picked up my bumper from Gary's shop on Friday (is Heidi his daughter? Oooh-Laa-Laa!!). I'm very pleased with the chrome job and they did a great job straightening it out. I have only two concerns: 1) There is a small crack (1/8 in.) at the center part of the "V" that I wish was repaired. I hope it doesn't get worse. 2) Near the bottom of one side, the finish is slightly rippled, not sure why.
Overall, a very good job and well worth the $300. I will bring it to the next meeting if anyone wants to see it, or feel free to come by the house (bring beer).
