Hi all,

I just bought a pair of used Edelbrock RPM mufflers (center 3" in/offcenter 3" out) I want to install in my '68 goat convertible. The cases are 3-5/8" x 9-1/8". It's got 1974 455 engine(Z4 code) with the stock headers. Current pipes are 2-1/2" before and after the current mufflers. My question is, without loss in performance, what diameter pipes should I use for these Edelbrock mufflers? 3"? 2-1/2"? Or 2-1/4"? :-/

Thank you in advance! :)

You should really stick with the 2 1/2 pipes you already have on the car. But if you really want to use the mufflers you bought. Have a shop make a reducer for your muffler to exhaust pipe. If it was my car, I would sell the mufflers and get the correct matching size for the whole current system. :-/

I would give Kevin a call at Lifetime muffler & Brake in Renton.

He can answer your question, he does great fab work & musclecar exhaust, comes recommended.
