Auto Tranny fluid checking.

I feel a little stupid asking this, but it's been a long time since I've actually done this so I want to make sure I'm doing it right.

She's sitting on a slight incline (driveway slopes toward the front of the car. nose down) Can anyone tell me the step by step process for checking the fluid level on my TH350?

Do I need to start it and check while it's running? Does it need to be warmed up?

To check the trany fluid level, it needs to be on level ground.
Check it after it is warmed up and while it is running. :D
