I while ago I blew my driveshaft and I had speedily replaced it. When I happily jumped into the drivers seat I threw my hurst shifter into first, let the clutch out then suddenly my goat lunged forward and stalled. At that point I soon realized that this job was going to be more then just a quick driveshaft swap.

So I took the shaft off and shifted through all the gears in my 4 speed muncie and also noticed that the splines on the transmission output shaft were spinning. So with this I came to the conclusion that my differential jammed up causing the driveshaft to abruptly stop and snap off like a twig. But, if my diff is really jammed why does the car roll backwards down my driveway? This is why I'm looking for another opinion before I start wrenching away aimlessly.

Have you checked your rear brakes ?

Have you tried taking off the driveshaft and put the rear axle up on jack stands, now try to turn the yoke on the axle. ???
If it is binding pull off the rear cover and inspect.

I'll keep that idea in mind goatweed when I start project "fix my damn car." You see I was going to start this Saturday, but I decided to take my dirt bike to the gravel pits instead.

Anyhow assuming there is no problem, would I be able to turn that rear axle yoke your talking about by hand?
