Like the Judge says, "a man needs to monitor his vitals". ;)Installing auto meter tach, oil pressure, water temp, voltmeter soon.
Anybody do this recently? Wondering about going through firewall without making any new hole(s)

Use the hole above the heater core, thats what I did.

Hey Bruce,
Where are you mounting the tach? My tach is dead, and I've been thinking of installing an aftermarket tach in the stock location. I'm under the impression that it would be more accurate than a repaired stock tach. What do you all think?

Where are you going to sense the oil pressure? At the oil filter adaptor, or next to the distributor? Dave B. recommends the point next to the dist. I went with a mechanical gauge, partly because it fits in that space better (no sending unit). If you go mech, you'll probably want to get copper tubing.

Put tach on steering column at about 10’oclock position in front of leftmost rally cluster opening
Went with mechanical oil press setup, Sender near dist and ran copper
Good aftermarket tach likely to be more accurate than repaired or aftermarket NOS tach
Happy to show you the setup, it’s working great

Do any of you know if that opening next to the distributor is there on a '65 389? I really don't want to even try putting a pressure gauge on the filter housing. The Hookers make a durn close fit as it is.

It was on the 65 389 I had. If the factory square head plug is still in the hole, it can be hard to see. Especially if there is a little accumulated gunk back there. The plug can be stubborn too, but it is the best place to get an accurate oil pressure reading. Good luck. :D
