I am trying to find some help to get my car fixed. Marc Neary usually ends up having to help me, but Dufur, OR is a bit to far to help me in Issaquah.

I have a cracked flex plate and I got an estimate from a local shop for $483 to replace it. They said the part was about $30-40 and the rest was labor. Marc said this is outrageous and not to take it there.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am pretty tired of shops hurting my car and ripping me off in the process so I am desperate at this point.

Thanks, no really....thanks.

Welcome aboard, Amber!
I took my car to Accutrans in Burien and received good service at a good price. Gary Tischer is the owner, and fellow club member. His shop is conveniently located just a few blocks from our club meeting spot. I'd start there:

Hello, and welcome. I would check with Gary as Lonnie said. If that still is too much, drop a line here again and maybe we can give you a hand. I may be able to grab a couple of guys by the shirt tails and make a run up to your end of town if all else fails. Good luck and be sure to keep us up on the latest.

I called Gary's shop and got an estimate of $350. Although that is better than the near $500, I still will not be able to get that done until maybe November. This would mean I will miss the Muscle Car meet 9/20. Tragedy!

If at all possible I would take anyone's help getting this fixed. Not to mention I am not so confident in the guys that told me that was the problem or that the flexplate is the only problem. Another car friend suggested it sounded like a loose bolt flyng around in the fly-wheel....who knows.
