Greetings All,
OK, Another question. I have completely removed the trunk from my 67 and am finding more rust. Aurgh!!! The outer wheel wells are gone where they meet with the quarter skin. The previous owner really did a job hiding it. Anyway, now I am trying to fix. I have located replacement quarter skins from year one and goodmark. Both companies say they are not good panels. I know I can't be the only one who has had this problem. I need to replace metal on the outer wheel wells too. How have any of you done this? Have you used the replacement skins and are they really bad? Looking for some guidance or direction please. I will be at the next meeting but would like to get started before then. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

I will be welding in the trunk floor pans this week in preparation for removing the quarterskins unless I can come up with a better option. (Short of buying another car :) )

The new Ames catalog (G-19) on page 72 lists the 66-67 outer wheelhouse panel as very good to excellent in quality.
Part numbers J200L and J200R, $115 each.
They do say the quarter panel skins are not very good though. I would take their word for it about them being bad. I'm sure that they put that there for a reason. Probably lots of returns because they are so bad.

Performance Years says that they have new full quarters coming soon.
You might try calling them to see about availability.

Are you sure that you need the whole quarters? Could you get away with just using the patch panels? Good Luck...

I could get away with patch panels except I haven't found any that cover the area around the wheel well openings (the moulded portions). THese are all eaten away. I suppose I could make something to wrap around them??? If I went that way however, I don't see how I can get the outwheel house sections out (or more specifically, back in)... I guess I could put them in by pieces.

I purchased a quarter panel for my car and end up not using it. How bad it the outer wheel well rusted, you my be able to patch in part of the wheel well and then patch the quarter panel.

All of the arftermarket quarter panel for the '67 are wrong on the lower rear and the rear edge that meets the taillight panel is for a '66. I would call Yearone to check if the have the new one, because it will take a lot of work to make them look good.
