:D What a great day! Awesome weather and lots of track time was the order of the day at this first annual event. The Legends were out in force both in the show area and especially at the drags. I thought I'd send off a recap, well what I can remember from the day's festivities.
Dan Willms made the trek from Langley, BC to christen the Class of '66 racer with it's first pass on US soil into the 9's, and to earn the final check on his competition license. Boy Dan did not dissapoint either. He made a couple of passes deep into the 9's at over 140 MPH, to earn Top Pontiac (fastest) of the event. He also showed some great driving skills, as the car wanted to launch wheels up into the center lane. Thanks for the great show Dan!
Mitch Bleitz had his '67 running hard into the 12's, Dave Kennedy had his Hurst equipped '65 running consistent mid 12's, Blake had the '66 Lemans on the track again, and drove it to the event! Pietro got the hardest working award as he wrenched on his '65 all day only to get one run in. :o But that's racin'. Pig had the Lemans running deep into the 11's before he thought better of it and slowed the car down as to not get booted off the track for running too fast. His answer...disconnect the secondaries and run on 2 bbls. Stef, was at it again running high tens consistently. Oh thanks Guyle for loaning the new wheels...looked great. Jim Steen had the '64 wagon out running twelves for the grocery-getter contingency. Reed Racer finally took it to the base with his '66 laying down a series of 11.80's. Royal Bob (Lugs) was there with the street '66 running the envelope of 12 flat. Thor (Brucie M) had the gavel banging frequently in the Judge, while clipping off mid 12's. Bob Schmid was there with his Ventura running deadly consistent 12.40's. Mark D. also a special thanks for getting the Reedster there with the tow rig. He gave up a day on the lake with his new 525 HP Off-shore boat, to hang with the posse.
I know I'm probably missing some details/ people in attendance so feel free to add.

I forgot to get any shots of the show cars, so someone help me out here. I know JP and the '68 made it, along with Gary, Lee, Dave G., Mike S., Mike Boutte, Patrick Bertucci, Guyle Rude, Ken & Larkin Buchanan, & the Holtens '67. Anybody that I forgot to mention??
Thanks for making it a great day at the track!
Brad, thanks for the awesome report and great photos.
What a great day is right, whew
I learned a lot on this day and enjoyed seeing all of the Legends tearing up the track. We should be proud that Dan Wiilms took fastest Pontiac
in his outrageous '66, showing all others that Pontiac is the only way to go.
In fact, he was fastest car. Period. Congratulations to you Dan and thanks a lot for bringing the kickass Class of '66 down for the event !!

Great pictures. I had a lot of fun down there. I still have some suspension work to do. It seems that whole strip is just straight. There's no need for the turning I was doing.
Man, you are right when you say Pietro was working. He was changing points, tires, dropping the mufflers. Gee cars you have to drive to the strip are a lot of effort!!! :D
I don't think anybody broke either. It was a good day!
So, who's leaving Thursday for Tiger Run??

It's hard to believe we have to start getting ready for Tiger run again. I'm sure it will come before we know it, and hopefully I'll be ready in April, yea that's it! Great job on the pics,,,,, Legends Rule!

Hi Patrick,
Pics on the CD are killer. Thanks man !!
Mitch, great shot of the ShortPants Racing Team Captain on a launch is among them. Wrinkled slicks clearly visible. Do you have or shall I post it?
Also, never did get to see much of that video since I showed up at last meeting when it was basically over. If you plan to edit it, I'd dig a copy.
If you don't edit it, I'd dig a copy too.

I was there in the 1968 Bird that had an electrical fire that was caused by my Hi Fire ignition!!! It fried bigtime and I lost about 10 feet of wiring. I ended up using speaker wire for most of it. I also had hardly any front brakes and rear discs that were dragging so bad that I couldnt roll my car with my friend pushing. Even with the stale gas (0ne year old ), hanging brakes Ignition box fried and the extreme heat that day ,my car ran flawlessly for 15 runs!!! I even let my buddy race it. The biggest problem was the front brakes would not hold back the car and I red lit twice in trials and third round I was up against a Red GTO with a SD Performance windo decal that had a dial in of 12.85 I ended up red lighting with a .21 sec light!!!! My brakes again let me roll forward!!!! DOH!! My time was averaging 12.75 on drag radials and a non ported head 400 . with ARCO gas. Been thrashed for 14 years and still going strong. This was a great day and the attendance was very low. Does anyone know if it is planned again this year?

Here is me getting pushed back to the fence. This was the first run of the day and I got a half a burn out and ............. nothing. Dead in the water! Got it going with Amp wire and speaker wire!! Woooo Hoooo! No tow home and 15 runs.

Here is a picture of the amp wire to the alternator and twisted to the power to the trunk. All the other wires I ripped out and just left for later. It was to my Hi-Fire.
