I sent my 66 GTO gauge set out to the East Coast to get an estimate to restore the gauges to driver/show quality. They contacted me to let me know that the gauges looked pretty good but that the speedo needs a rebuild @ $185. and the tach is shot but fixable @ $285. Total cost of resto is $633. Whew! My question is, I can buy a new tachometer for $190. out of the catalog, and save a hundred bucks. Does anyone know how the new tachs look with the old gauges?

Hey Jeff, check with Greg on that. He had a set of guages restored and the price was less than half of what you were quoted. Man, people must just see you coming. I believe OPG has reproduction guage packages in their latest catalog also, I'm thinking around 400.00 for those. Give me a call and I'll get you Greg's #. See ya. Stef.

Thanks Stef,
I had the gauges in the (U Know what) restored by Clock Doc for about 300 bucks, back in 93. and that included the clock in the consol cluster. They did a nice job. I don't think that they were as far gone as the old goat gauges but still... $600+ ??... Okay, which one of you guys called American Classic Restorations to let them know I was an easy mark? Or maybe I'm getting "Buffalo'ed", if you know what I mean. Jeff

I've decided to go into business doing whatever it is that you need done. I'm sure I'll make a bundle off of you if I use the methods used previously by the other fine establishments you've done business with. Gee whiz, these business classes are paying off much quicker than I thought they would! Let's talk before you do anything with them Jeff, you really should look at Greg's gauges first, they look really nice. Later.
I got a re-pop tach from Evergreen Muscle Cars down in Auburn to go in my factory rally cluster. Looks just fine ! I'm not using that tach any longer though as I've installed some aftermarket gauges that I needed after a new motor went in.
If you work with Pontiac Shack, always check your wallet b4 you leave!
Just kidding, Stef's a super good man and knows his stuff
P.S. The repop tach shouldn't cost you more than about $135 uninstalled
There is only one company that makes these, everybody else (Ames, OPG, etc.) gets them from a gauge guru dude that works outta his house in Socal.

Jeff, I've used ClockDoc back in Tennessee for several projects and have been happy with quality and price so far.
