I was reading a recent post on fuel pumps and it reminded me of a few questions that I have. I installed an electric fuel pump in my Lemans (near the tank) and have wondered ever since, what to do with the return line. It is currently still plumbed into the engine compartment. All of the elctric pumps that I've seen do not have a provision for a return line. Should I just keep it capped?

Also, in the other post about fuel pumps Dan mentioned regulators. Do I need one of these too?

BTW, the cars runs stronger than it ever has except it falls on it's face under WOT (when starting from a dead stop) shortly after shifting into second gear. Seems fuel related but not sure. I can let off a bit and it recovers quickly and will continue to accelerate hard again. Something else that I've been scratching my head about lately.

Scott (If you know me you might think that I do alot of head scratching)

Thanks,
Scott

We should probably find out from you what pump you are using first, but I would think that most pumps are running more than 7PSI. Anything more than that and you are likely to blow past the float valve.

What size carb are you running? WOT can suck some float bowls dry before the float/pump/fuel line can catch back up. what size fuel line are you running?

Sorry to be asking so many questions but any of these could be the problem....

The first thing I'd look at is the filter. It's the cheapest fix and can quite often restrict flow depending on the quality of the unit.
