I've got a slow drip.......I know, I know, I should go see a doctor.

My 65 rear main seal is leaking. This is the second one in 10k miles (13 years). The last one lasted around 6k miles in 3years. The 2 -rope seals are known to drip, but have any of you guy's (or gal's) found a better way?

My mechanic told me that lip seals are the best but he doesn't think they will fit on my block.

What happens next year when I get my engine built....do I still have to use the rope seals?

Thanks in advance

Hey Rick, I would send Mr Bisschop up at SD Performance an e-mail about this. I believe he uses a viton rear main and has good luck with these seals. They seem to be working fine on my last engine, no drips so far.

Yeah, give Dave a call. I've got one in my new engine and I've heard a lot of people say the viton seals are the *ONLY* ones you should use if you don't want problems.
