View Full Version : Carb Rebuild
Just an F.Y.I.
I'm getting my carbs rebuilt (the right way) from an outfit in Kirkland. They have been highly recommended and the owner has a beautiful tripower goat himself. I'll be taking my goat in on Saturday....I'm very excited.
The place is called
Carburetor and Fuel Injection Connection

That's where I had mine dyno-tuned. Put it on the dyno while you're there!!
Took the goat over to Carb Connection on Saturday, Alex is a great guy, his goat is a 66 convert.
His dyno tune division was having an "Acura" day, man, there must have been 20-30 ricers in the lot waiting their turn on the dyno. Alex told me that next week its the Viper club, then the Cobra club. He also told me that when the clubs come over some of them have a party, food, drinks, etc.
Does this sound like something our club would be interested in?

Hey, a Dyno party! I'd be motivated to make the trip from Victoria.
Anyone else?

Sounds like a good time, I'd have to give the primer a fresh scuff for good measure.

hey Stef, are you still using the basic SOS, or have you graduated to the finer 000 steel wool variety pack by Meguires?

I use the scotch brite in green. This gives me the best texture for the buck! 8)

So there seems to be some interest, should we ask the Lonster if he could/would set up some sort of poll on the web site so we can see if this is a good idea? Maybe it could be brought up at the next meeting or put in the newsletter? Then, if there is enough interest, and I don't know how many "dynos" this guy wants for a function....we can try to set a date.

I don't know that I would be one to use the dyno, but I would definately be in for the good time surrounding the event.

Can I ask what a dyno is? Sorry guys, I looked it up on the net and all I could find was that it is some sort of thing that helps you get the most out of your engine...
Just trying to learn a little. Thanks!

I'm no expert but here goes:
There are basically two types of dynos--engine and chassis.
An engine dyno you connect directly to an engine for the purpose of measuring horsepower and torque at various RPM levels--though you can track many other engine parameters at the same time. It's great for tuning an engine because you can "see" the results of each tweak (i.e. there will be a corresponding increase or decrease in engine horsepower or torque).
A chassis dyno measures horsepower at the rear wheels. In other words, you drive your car onto the dyno and, after it's been secured, you put it in drive and let 'er rip.
Another bit of info—dyno is an abbreviation for dynamometer. Yes, what the others said is obviously correct. “Dyno” figures/statistics for peak horsepower and peak torque are what most vehicle owners are seeking when they have their cars or engines hooked up to these systems. It seems that a lot of Legends members have had their engines on dynos.

Now I am sad that my car isn't running so I will have to wait. No worries...
