Spring retaining plates and bolts

I'm pretty sure ur springs should be bigger on the top. I think 68 is when they went to the same on both ends.

67 has the small pigtail on both ends, 66 and earlier had the larger top.

The Pontiac restoration book shows small on the bottom, and big on the top. The book also shows some sort of isolator. I've never seen one in real life. However, I've seen stamped notches in the frame to locate the end of the spring, and also, a piece of tubing (think water hose) over the end of the spring to help it keep quiet. The resto book also talks about spring location, as to where the end should face. TIM

I think I have it figured out now and will know for sure tomorrow when I get the new set of 64-66 springs that I left at the store today. I did some closer checking and it looks like the '67 will accept either the 64-66 and the 67 springs. It looks like the body of the '67 still has the mount for the large 64-66 spring ends and the "boss" was simply added in '67 to accept the pigtail ends. I was just expecting the top of the new springs to mount they way that the did originally. I had never had a 64-66 spring in my hand before today and when I saw it I thought...this will not work. Now I will have to wait for the isolators to come in the mail.
Patience grasshopper!
