I was at first shooting for a worn out and chaulky look to the finish, but Kelly convinced me to go ahead and finish glossy, like it had been buffed like an old paint job. We decided to go single stage Cameo white, and Kelly followed up with his own formula for the stripes. He took the correct 1967 Tyrol Blue base coat, and added clear and hardener for the perfect look. One key we found out after the first attempt was that the white needed to be sanded flat before the stripes to make the wear look right. I have to admit it was alittle hard to do what we were about to do to a brand new paint job, but I knew what I envisioned and how cool it would look when done. We also decided to assemble the car's trim so the final step (wear) would be as it would naturally be over the years.

So, we both worked the car with first DA sander and 1000-3000 grit, followed by buffing in stages with different compounds & pads. The beauty is it didn't have to be perfect, and it's hard to make a mistake really. The final touch was applying the decals, then adding the same patina to them. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Kelly went above and beyond my expectations and his help with this project is greatly appreciated. And, we had fun to boot! Thanks Kelly.
