I just found this site when surfing the web for Pontiac parts. I have a 1966 Tempest custom that I am doing some resto work on. Car has a 2spd auto, manual steering and brakes, factory am radio and no other options. I bought the car in 1984 for $430. It had been hit in the front end and needed a hood, a front bumper and a nose piece. All at the time could be had in a local junkyard for cheap considered to todays "deals" . I rebuilt the OHC 6, and repainted it. Well 2 months later it was keyed on all panels and it went to storage till 2001. It sat in my garage for a bit (8 years) then I got married and kids etc came along. Finally have the $$ and time to work on it. I am currently in the process of reassembling it after having removed most parts and stripping all paint from the car. It will be repainted the factory blue color with the sprint stripes painted on rather then the factory tape. When I bought it no one seemed to be interested in the OHC 6 motors, I was and I bought them when I found them. Now 20+ years I have parts that I don't see anymore. Anyway I will continue working on the car and posting pictures etc if anyone is interested. Car is completely stock and will stay that way. No dents or rust to be found, guess I am lucky for that. Car was stored inside the entire 20+ years.

Cool

Welcome to the site, congrats on keeping your Pontiac all these years.

Get yourself ready for Al - when he sees your story, he'll be on it like a hobo on a hot dog.

Well, I guess I have to reply now with all those comments LOL. Actually they know me well. Great job keeping the car and I think we ALL look forward to seeing it as it comes along.
I'm with you, keep it OHC all the way! And to see that it's a Sprint! More the better! (Is that proper English? LOL)

TAF, Nice ride for sure! Tell us more about the story.. and what about all those parts you kept from all those years ago?

I have a '66 LeMans Sprint coupe, 3spd manual, A/C, all original car that I will be restoring once I'm done with my '67 GTO convert restoration. Not quite as clean as yours, but it's all there.

Where are you located? Local?

Not really much to the story. I had searched for this car for awhile, as I was after a Sprint. Once it got keyed I was lucky enough to be able to have a place to store it inside, thus it stayed in good condition. I passed up lots of GTO's back then looking for this car, and back then most OHC cars seemed to have had v8's installed. As far as parts, I have 5 complete OHC motors 2 of them Sprint engines plus the one in my car and pieces of some others. I have some extra trannies and a bunch of trim pieces, emblems etc from all the cars I was able to scrounge parts off of back when they were common in junkyards. I have hung onto most everything I obtained back in the "day". Sad to say the amount of cars i saw get crushed back in the 80's. Today they would have been reborn and restored. But back then it was just another "A" body. More pics of my progress soon. Just got the sheet metal fitted and am getting ready for primer.

Finally got the Sprint out of the paint booth and am starting to get it put back together. I am not really happy with the fit up of my "re pop" dynacorn drivers fender. I had to do alot of work to get the door gap correct. I never checked how the headlight bezel fit. Now I am putting it all back together and am having issues with getting it to fit correctly. Not alot I can do. Looking for a OEM drivers fender to repcae it with I think?
